Joe rig: Free download

Hi mates! I decided to put this little character free.

The body was rigged with JTD rigging tools.

DOWNLOAD

Here's an animation I did with this character, so you can see what is possible to do with Joe:)

I hope you're gonna enjoy it :)

the files not working

Fuzz said...

What do you mean? You can't download it or you can't open it?
If you can't open the file, just try to check 'Ignore Version' in the Open Save option box.
I made it with maya 8.5.

perfect!! thanks so much for the use of the rig. So is it ok to use in demo reels (crediting the rig to you obviously), thanks again, GREAT CHARACTER!!

You're welcome Sam, yep you can use it in your showreel of course.

Hi Michel

Thanks for your rig i am going to create some nice animation with this.. :)

Scott McElfresh said...

Michel,

Just to be sure, but the rig has no FK rigging on the hands right? I found a switch but no controls for the hands/fingers. Let me know if I'm missing something - thanks much!

Fuzz said...

I'll check it as soon as possible, but I'm very busy these days so don't wait for a fast answer ;) I'll do my best!

Just out of curiosity, would you be planning on submitting a .ma file as well.

Or if someone else reading this could export the file as such.

The version I am using is maya 8.0, but this rig is too awesome to just pass by.

Thanks for your time!

Yop BRaschko.
Now the zip file includes both .mb and .ma.
This rig is working with maya 2008 and all the newest versions.

Hope you will enjoy it ;)

ps: I remind you guys that you have to check 'Ignore version' in the maya open scene option box.

J.Folk said...

Hi Fuzz
I have tried to download the new zip but on maya 2010 the left hand's fingers on FK still have the same problem and the bones don't look attached to the palm of the hand....i am doing something wrong?

Fuzz said...

Actualy, I don't have maya 2010 :s
Everything works well on my old 8.5 , so I don't know how to fix this problem... I'll try to get maya 2010!

Dave said...

This rig looks great but I'm having the same problem with the fingers not moving/rotating with the FK arm/hand controls. I'm using Maya 2008. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Having problems with the finger as well... other than that... the rig is wonderful to work with! Thank you

Hi, I have just downloaded Joe and I'm testing it right now.
It's a very functional rig and personally I like the clean interface.

(Fingers' controls are too small :Pp)

Thanks and have a good work
^_^

Omar said...

Really great overall, but I can't seem to find any finger controls at all :/

Looks like a great fun rig. I'm also having the same trouble with the fingers. It operates as though they aren't bound, and I'm using Maya 2010 also.
Thanks for giving back to the animation community!

Fuzz said...

That is weird because it works with my maya 2009. I will try to find a friend that have maya 2010 and see what's happening. I'll do my best to fix it as soon as possible ;)

Fingers controls are on the fingers: it's FK so you have a controler for each join. They may be hidden, some people told me that the finger controlers disapear when you switch to FK arm. I fixed that problem so normaly it should work... If you still can't find them, tell me and I'll see what I can do.

George:
Thanks for using the rig man, I'm glad you like it!

Hi,

With the help of your rig, I have an animation topic at http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13377573/Dinev4_11sec.mp4 which you guys can track my progress and perhaps drop me some critiques or comments along the way. =D

Really very nice blog.Although learning from an Animation Tutorial Website or Animation Forum is a great way to begin learning how to create an animation, be it Flash, 2D, 3D, by far the greatest way to learn how to Make Animation Online is to be taught by someone who is already an expert in that particular skill.

Hello there, justwanted to say thank you for the rig and also very nice test animation. very smooth.

Did you manage to get any of your old animation videos back up and running? I'm currently a student and it's good to see where people started before they got their break. Sort of gives hope to the rest of us!

Thanks again Michel

how much time you spent planning it out..??

Please click on My name to check my animation... not so good (beginners)

Fuzz said...

Thanks Umer!
I don't exactly remember how much time I spent on planification. I guess I took 2 or 3 hours to animate the shot on PaP (2D animation software). At the time I created a post on 11secondclub forum to get feedback. Maybe you'll find more informations:
http://www.11secondclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=7054

I watched your animation, it's sweet ^^ I'm busy right now, I'll give you some feedback later!

Joshua Dabby said...

Dear sir,
My name is Josh Dabby and I go to Full Sail University. I am currently in the middle of a Rigging Art Test, which would let me become a rigger and move on to finals.

However, one of the main assignments we have to complete is that we have to find 3 different models that we believe would be good rigging models and why they would be good for rigging. I would like to ask you for your permission to use the model in this post as one of the models I select for the art test. I would also like you to know that the Models must written approval from the artist for Full Sail to use.If you could help me out that would be fantastic.

Also if this is not your model and you used it only for animation, please tell me where I could find the main artist that is responsible for creating so that I may ask his/her permission. Thank you for your time.

Josh Sobel said...

Hey there. I've been trying to download Joe to use for an assignment, but the link appears to be broken. If you have a backup of the file, could you by any chance email it to me? My email address is joshsobel89@yahoo.com.

hey there, i love this rig! one question - is there a head constraint somewhere? (so it moves with the body versus having to move it seperate?)
